the great thing about it is the mix can never be the same twice .. the only part that was planned was the intro, the rest of the set was a case of pulling in pre-cut-up loops and generally messing with them on the fly.

09.12.03 : No Corporation For The New Wave Son!
erm.. look out for a new bootleg by me on MTV Mash which returns over the coming weekend, so I’m told .. new format .. none of the “lifestyle” sections .. just full on bootlegs……….. hmm to think i missed pop idol for that! ;)

I’m also going to do a live remix/dubtronics/bootleg set on Radio Freedom tonight at 10.00PM GMT… its something that I’ve had the idea of doing for a while but its taken an age to get ready … on the fly remixing should be fun at the very least.

11.11.03 : Up-Date
OK I Know its getting a bit boring for the regulars but It seems that the site is attracting a lot of new German/Dutch visitors due Fr** P*rty being shown on daytime MTV over there (actually I’ve just had news that its now getting daytime play on MTV Asia!) so … hallo und Hoffnung des Willkommens I genießen Sie, was Sie hier finden :)

It also seems that a new German site bastard-pop.de.vu has a copy of the above mentioned track along with many other fine mixes

So what have I been up to? … working quite hard for a change! as well as spending a week in Palma working on a TV Show I’ve also been producing yet more tracks for MTV-Mash and at this moment in time it looks like I will have another bootleg featured on the revamped shows opener.

04.11.03 : Kylie - Slow (Ultra396 Dubtronic Mix)

Its been hanging around for a month but I thought it a bit cheeky to upload until the official release.

Not really that much different than the original but given an extended meatier work out for my own amusement as I thought the single mix was a bit lacking in places;)

I’ve also upped the Obie Twice - Got Some Teeth (Ultra396 Mix) as a standalone after a few emails came my way requesting it.

Talking of e-mail if you’ve contacted me recently and not received a reply bare with me as I’ve been out of the country for a week and need to catch up.

15.10.03 : Radio Freedom Mix 14:10:03 (OFFLINE)
Radio Freedom a place where I’ve had the pleasure of doing a weekly show for the past year and bit - has been back for the past 2 week after being forced off air for a couple of months due to the new net radio restrictions.

Not so much a place to display my “mixing skills” more a case of playing a bunch of tunes that I’ve been listening to that week to a group of freinds whilst we discuss the football results and shoes! If the show has any kind of theme its one were “anything goes” from Dub to Dean Martin and all places wide of - expect the unexpected.

So a bunch of bootlegs and remixes that I’ve been playing with for the past month or so mixed together and aired on Tuesday 14th Oct … the only restriction being that no more than 2hrs would be spent on each track … why? with the hope of bringing back a little fun after all the constraints working with MTV. 10 Tracks unheard of outside of radio-freedom - enjoy.

I’m really sorry but as stated before I cannot upload it due to contractual obligations. I know its is out there …its just a case of searching for it … as I’ve said I do Know that a copy is available on the net .. I’m just not allowed to tell you where it is

08.10.03 : MTV TRASHED - Part Four
Turned down by the Neptunes I think … something to do with them producing/writing No Doubt’s - Hella Good .. but to be honest I’d given up trying to remember who was blocking the tunes by this time.

25.09.03 : MTV TRASHED - Part Three
Sweet Filled Dreams - Not much to say about this really … turned down in favor of Eclectic Methods Reef vs Craig David mix! .. you win some you loose some ;) anyway not really the sort of thing I usually do but it worked out quite well and I like it so here it is.

I’ve also just heard that the Pink vs Vines Free Party video is getting daytime play on both MTV-1 and MTV-2

16.09.03 : MTV TRASHED - Part Two
The very first commissioned bootleg Going Down Madges Way was to be part of the opening show (a completely different format to now where each show was to feature 7 bootleg videos). All was going well and we went along for a preview of all the tracks - all I can say is that I was blown-away with the quality and work that had been put in to create that show - then the “biz” got involved and one by one they were getting ditched! (this track - something to do with Lenny Kravits record co or publishers if I remember rightly. Shame as the video for this track is superb.

This version of Going Down Madges Way has been reworked as the original mix may hopefully one day see the light of day when the “biz” gets its head around the idea.

One the same topic I noticed that MTV-Mash this week had a re-run of Free Party - another chance to catch it this week maybe if you missed out first time around .

12.09.03 : MTV TRASHED - Part One
First of a series of Bootlegs made for MTV-Mash that for some reason never made it onto the program. First up is Return of The One Mark Morrison vs U2 all set to be shown on this weeks program until U2 heard about the track and requested a copy be sent to them in Dublin … 2 days later they asked that we didn’t use “One” … why we have no idea .. still the nice guys at MTV have allowed me to release it on here

28.07.03 : Right enough of the bootlegs, now down to business. Kosheen’s fabulous new single All In My Head stripped down, rebuilt, stuck in a space echo and given the Ultra396 Dubtronic work-over - 7.25 mins in length - 6.79Mb in size.

Update on MTV-Mash - the feedback has been very positive and a few nice “offers” have come in on the back of it. If all goes well it could lead to some interesting developements :)

20.07.03 : Well, so that was it .. my 2 and a half minutes of fame!, a possible 6 million people in one go! it aint gonna get better than that! … contractually I’m not allowed to upload any MTV material to the site but as far as i’m aware it doesn’t state that I cant link to other peoples ripps so if you want to see my contribution to MTV-Mash Boot106 have upped the OFF-LINE) and OFF-LINE of “Ultra396- Free Party - Pink vs The Vines” as has Dj Jay UK-OFFLINE here - thanks lads, also whilst i’m doing thanks - cheers Howie, Lorna, Simone and all at MTV.

15.07.03 : Big Update:
I know the site has been a bit slow of late the reason being is that I’ve been working on some contributions to a new MTV show called MTV Mash which promises to bring “The hottest sounds in club culture, including bootleg mixes and the chance to vote on what viewers want to see in the next edition”.
The show starts this week and is aired on Saturday 19th July at 23.30 in the UK (check your TV guides for European timing - I’m not 100% certain that the show is being aired elsewhere in the world, but I’ve had word that MTV US have seen the program and are “very interested”) - so what’s up this week …. ME :) … I wont spoil the surprise but lets just say that my contribution this week erm … rocks! … more details to follow.

Bit of a site update ….. re-uploaded Public Dance Floor due to Public demand :) .. loads of mixes finished .. will upload 1 every Wednesday. You might have noticed that the “members” section has gone and Hide and Sleep King for Tonight and Sick Humans have gone public … I’ve had a little rethink and all will be explained in the next newsletter.

Good to hear that Grandad has been getting some airplay thanks to the boys at XFM’s the remix - I hear that he’s been celebrating with the ladies at the Whitley Home for the Elderly and incontinent!
